Rockstar Games' highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) has won the prestigious Most Wanted Game award at the 2024 Golden Joystick Awards, cementing its place as one of the most eagerly awaited titles in the gaming industry.

With the game’s release window set for Fall 2025, the victory comes as no surprise, given the overwhelming demand and excitement surrounding the next installment in the GTA series.

During the awards ceremony, Rockstar's Publishing Director, David Manley, accepted the award on behalf of the development team.

He expressed gratitude to fans for their support and teased that GTA 6 will exceed expectations, saying, “There’s an incredible amount of people doing amazing things on Grand Theft Auto 6. Absolutely mind-blowing things. It’s an honor to accept this award, and we can’t wait to share more.”

The Golden Joystick Awards, known for celebrating the best in video games, saw GTA 6 beat out several formidable competitors for the Most Wanted Game award, including titles like Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Death Stranding 2, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Mafia: The Old Country.

The Most Wanted Game category is often one of the most fiercely contested, as it reflects the games players are most eager to see released in the future.

As the development of GTA 6 continues, Rockstar's statements about "mind-blowing things" further intensify anticipation for the game, which promises to push the boundaries of open-world gameplay and storytelling.

While GTA 6 took home the Most Wanted honor, the night saw Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth dominate in other categories, winning four awards, including Best Storytelling and Best Soundtrack. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 claimed three awards, including Best Multiplayer Game and Best Game Trailer. Black Myth: Wukong, an indie title from debut developer Game Science, took home the coveted Ultimate Game of the Year award, marking a stunning achievement for the studio.

In addition to the main categories, GTA 6’s victory highlights Rockstar's continued dominance in the gaming landscape, with fans eagerly awaiting more details on the title’s upcoming features.

ake-Two Interactive has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) will be released in the Fall of Calendar 2025, putting to rest rumors that the game might be delayed until 2026.

This announcement follows a major trailer release in December 2023 that set YouTube viewership records and reignited excitement for the long-awaited game, the first new GTA entry in over a decade.

In a recent financial update, CEO Strauss Zelnick addressed speculation about AI's role in accelerating the game's development.

He clarified that while AI tools can improve efficiency, they won’t drastically speed up or lower costs of creating the game.

Zelnick emphasized that AI helps creative teams focus on innovation rather than routine tasks, but it won’t revolutionize production timelines.

The update also teased other upcoming titles, including Civilization VII, Judas, and WWE 2K25, alongside GTA 6.

Despite delays caused by actor strikes and global challenges, the hype surrounding GTA 6 continues to grow, with fans analyzing every teaser and trailer for clues.

Rockstar has kept a tight lid on details since the 2022 leaks and implemented stricter security measures to prevent further breaches.

With the game’s Fall 2025 release drawing closer, the excitement surrounding GTA 6 has only been amplified by Rockstar’s hints at the game's groundbreaking innovations.

As Rockstar prepares to unveil more about GTA 6, fans are undoubtedly hopeful that the game will live up to its incredible hype and deliver another unforgettable chapter in the Grand Theft Auto saga.
