Nintendo has announced a new motion-controlled alarm clock called Alarmo, offering unique features beyond a traditional alarm.
The device, priced at $99.99, allows users to snooze or stop the alarm through motion gestures or by physically getting out of bed. While not a successor to the Switch, Alarmo is available for early purchase to Switch Online subscribers, with a full release set for early 2025.
Alarmo includes immersive sounds sourced from five popular Nintendo Switch games, including 'Breath of the Wild', 'Pikmin 4', 'Splatoon 3', 'Super Mario Odyssey', and 'Ring Fit Adventure', offering 35 different audio scenes. Additional sounds from 'Animal Crossing: New Horizons' and 'Mario Kart 8' will be available as free updates later.
The device also incorporates sleep tracking features, allowing users to monitor movement during sleep and select between Steady or Gentle alarm modes. Steady Mode gradually intensifies the alarm the longer you stay in bed, while Gentle Mode maintains a consistent level. There is also Button Mode for users preferring a traditional snooze button.
This announcement follows Nintendo’s recent focus on projects beyond gaming consoles, such as the release of 'The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom' and the opening of the Nintendo Museum in Kyoto.
